1. Check the power supply

        ·       Laptops

This is one of the most common issues. There are varied things that may fail, from mistreatment the incorrect laptop power supply (delivering the incorrect voltage) to a blown fuse in the plug.
It might be that your power supply has simply unsuccessful. First, make certain the battery has some charge. If you’re undecided, and there’s no power indicator on the battery itself, then take away it entirely and simply use the mains charger.
Double-check, too, that the charger is the right one for your laptop. Several laptops – particularly from a similar manufacturer – use a similar size plug, and if you own more than one, it’s not too tough to plug in the incorrect power supply, which could give a different voltage or not enough current.
Other gadgets might also use similar tips, like A battery high-powered speaker, and are unlikely to use a similar voltage as your laptop, which typically requires 16-20V.
Second, check the fuse in the plug. Use a screwdriver to remove the fuse and install one that’s best-known to be good. If you have a spare power cable which will plug into your power supply, this is a much faster swap to check that it isn’t the fuse at fault.
Check over the wire itself, as power provides get beaten up, particularly if you carry them everyplace. Weak points are at the ends where it joins the black brick and at the plug which connects to the laptop. If you can see the colored wires inside the black outer protection, it can be time to buy a brand new PSU.
If you are having issues along with your laptop's touchpad also checks up on our high tips to fix it.

  ·      Computers

PC power provides also can be problematic. Few people have a spare they will install and check, so the first check is the fuse in the plug. There is also a fuse within the PSU itself, but it will need you {to remove it from your laptop and then remove the metal case to see if that is the problem. One of the most common pc power supply problems is that the pc can close up unexpectedly instead of failing to boot up at all.
If the LED is on showing that power is reaching it, certify your power button is correctly connected and dealing.
You can short the appropriate motherboard pins along (check which of them in your motherboard manual) to eliminate the facility button from the equation.

2. Check the screen

  ·       Laptops

Try disconnecting any external displays including projectors and monitors to form positive they are not stopping your laptop from booting into Windows.
If your computer's power LED lights up and you can hear the hard disk or fan(s) whirring, however, there’s no image on the screen, then create the space dark and ensure there isn’t a very faint image on the screen.
It’s simple to suppose a laptop computer isn’t booting once in truth, it’s the screen that’s the matter.
If there is a faint image – maybe the Windows login screen – then it’s likely that your screen’s inverter has failed. This element changes the DC (DC) coming from the battery or power supply to an AC needed by the screen.

Replacing an inverter isn’t too tough if you’re handy with a screwdriver, but it’s crucial you purchase the correct replacement part. As inverters aren’t exactly cheap, you can’t afford to induce it wrong. If your laptop seems to be booting fine, but there’s no image in any respect, the LCD panel can be guilty. Exchange a laptop screen is possible but tough, and screens may also be costly. If it’s an older laptop, it’s price considering shopping for a brand new one.

   ·       PCs

It isn't much you can do to fix a broken computer monitor, but it is easy - or easier - to swap the ability lead and video cable or maybe the entire monitor to see if that is the reason your computer will not boot.

3. Remove any USB drives or memory cards

Assuming everything is pleased with the power provides and screen, your pc is also getting stuck before it loads Windows.
A classic perpetrator here is a USB drive or memory card left inserted into a USB port or card reader. Usually, you will see an error message like "Operating system not found" which may result in unnecessary panic.
For the bulk of the time, it means that the BIOS is about to do booting from removable storage drives (including cards) before the inner disk drive.
It may even be a disc left in the DVD or Blue-ray drive, so check those too.

4. Attempt a rescue disc

If you’re seeing completely different error messages, or there are no cards, external drives or discs inflicting the problem, attempt using a rescue disc.
If you have got one, the Windows DVD is often used, but otherwise, you can transfer (using another pc – obviously) a rescue disc image and either burn it to a CD or DVD or extract it to a USB flash drive. you can then boot from this and decide to fix the problem with Windows.
If a virus is inflicting the problem, use a rescue disc from an anti-virus supplier as this can include scanning tools which may realize and remove the malware.
Here’s a full guide to creating and employing a rescue disc.

5. Boot into Safe Mode

Even if you can’t boot into Windows, you may be able to get into safe mode. Press F8 as your laptop is starting up and you’ll get a menu providing to boot into Safe Mode. Here's how to enter safe mode.
If you can enter safe mode, you may be able to undo any changes that caused your laptop or computer to stop booting. You may strive to uninstall any new programs that you simply recently installed, uninstall a driver that was recently updated, or create a replacement user account if the account is corrupt.

Here’s a lot of detailed orient on how to fix a corrupt user profile.
If you see an option to repair your computer, try this, but you may nearly definitely want your Windows CD for this to work.

6. Check for faulty or incompatible hardware

If you’ve simply installed some new memory or another piece of hardware, it would be preventing your computer from booting. Remove it (reinstalling the recent memory if necessary) and check out again.
If your motherboard has a LED readout showing POST codes, search the manual or online to search out what the code is shown means.
Often it will be difficult to get a newly built pc to boot. The most effective tip here is to disconnect everything except the vacant minimum required in addition to the BIOS:
 ·      Motherboard
·       CPU (with the heat sink attached)
·       Graphics card (if there is a graphics output on the motherboard, remove any plug-in graphics cards)
·       One stick of memory (remove any others, and leave the one stick in slot zero or whichever the manual recommends)
·      Power supply
·      Monitor

All different hardware is unnecessary: you do not would like a tough drive, optical drive or the other parts for the laptop to begin.
Common reasons why a freshly built laptop will not boot are:
·     Power leads improperly attached to the motherboard. If your board has an extra 12v socket close to the CPU, make sure the correct lead from the facility supply is hooked up additionally to the big 24-pin ATX connection.
·         Components not installed or seated properly. Take away memory, graphics card, and CPU and install, check for any bent pins on the CPU and CPU socket.
·         Power button wires connected to wrong pins on the motherboard.
·         Power cables not hooked up to a graphics card. Guarantee PCI-E power leads are correctly connected if needed by your GPU.
·         Hard drive connected to the incorrect SATA port. Make sure the primary drive is hooked up to a SATA port driven by the motherboard chipset, and not a separate controller.

Sometimes the rationale a pc will not boot is that hardware fails and there’s no easy fix. Hard drives are a common issue. If you can hear an everyday clicking, or the drive spinning up and the powering down over and over, these are signs that it’s broken.
Occasionally, people have found that removing the drive and put it in the freezer for a couple of hours will the trick.
However, this is typically a temporary fix and you should have a second drive on hand to quickly copy or copy any files off the drive that you need.
If you can’t get the drive going again, it’s time to start anew with a new drive. Let's hope that you have a recent backup of your important files!
